Terms of Service
Last updated: 19 October 2026.
1. Who we are
PassBritain (https://passbritain.co.uk) is an independent practice tool run by a sole trader in England.
James Hoy, a sole trader trading as PassBritain.
378 Godstone Road, Whyteleafe, CR3 0BA, United Kingdom
Not VAT registered.
In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean PassBritain. “You” means the person using the service.
2. What PassBritain is (and is not)
PassBritain sells original practice material for the Life in the UK test. This includes mock tests, flashcards, daily questions and study guides. We write this material ourselves.
- We are not official. PassBritain is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Home Office or any other part of the UK government.
- Our questions are not the real test questions. Our material is for practice only.
- We cannot guarantee you will pass. Doing well on our tests does not mean you will pass the real Life in the UK test.
- We do not book tests. You can only book the real test through GOV.UK: https://www.gov.uk/life-in-the-uk-test
3. No immigration, visa or legal advice
We do not give immigration, visa, nationality or legal advice. We are not regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority (formerly the OISC) and cannot advise you on your circumstances.
Do not rely on PassBritain when making immigration decisions. For government information, use GOV.UK. For advice about your case, speak to a regulated immigration adviser or solicitor.
4. Who can use PassBritain
You must be 18 or over to buy or use PassBritain. The service is for your own personal, non-commercial study.
5. Your account
- You sign in using a link we email to you (a “magic link”). Keep access to your email account secure, because anyone who can read your email may be able to sign in. Magic links expire after 20 minutes or once used.
- One person per account. You must not share your account, sign-in links or access with anyone else.
- Give us an email address you control and keep it up to date.
- Tell us straight away at hello@passbritain.co.uk if you think someone else has used your account.
6. Prices and payment
We currently offer two one-off options for new purchases:
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| 3-month access | £9.99, paid once | Full access for 90 days from purchase. It does not renew. |
| 12-month access | £14.99, paid once | Full access for 365 days from purchase. It does not renew. |
- Not VAT registered. Prices are as shown. There is no automatic renewal on these plans.
- Payments are taken securely by Stripe through Stripe Checkout. We never see or store your full card details.
- If you already have a 90-day pass or a monthly subscription bought previously, that plan continues under the terms at the time of purchase until it ends or you cancel.
- We may change our prices in future. Changes will not affect a one-off pass you have already bought. For any remaining monthly subscriptions, we will email you at least 30 days before a price change takes effect, and you can cancel before then.
7. Monthly plan (legacy subscriptions only): auto-renewal and how to cancel
New purchases are one-off 3-month or 12-month access. This section applies only if you still have a monthly subscription from an earlier purchase.
- The monthly plan renews automatically each month, and we will charge your payment method £9.99 (or the current price) on each renewal date until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time from your dashboard using the Manage subscription button, which opens the Stripe customer portal. You can also email hello@passbritain.co.uk.
- When you cancel, your plan stops at the end of the current paid month. You keep access until then. We do not charge you again, and we do not give partial refunds for the rest of a month you have already started (unless section 8 or 9 applies).
- Stripe retries failed monthly payments. If the subscription is ultimately cancelled or unpaid, access ends. We do not revoke access immediately while a payment is past due and still being retried.
8. Your 14-day right to cancel
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you normally have 14 days from the day you buy to cancel and get a full refund.
How this works for digital content: at checkout you must tick a box asking for access straight away and acknowledging that you lose that 14-day right once access starts (regulation 37). We will not start Stripe Checkout until you tick it. Once you have paid and your access begins, the statutory 14-day cancellation right is lost. We confirm this in your order confirmation email. This is not an unconditional 14-day refund.
If you email hello@passbritain.co.uk within 14 days of purchase and you have barely used the service, we may offer a goodwill refund. We review these on request, at our discretion. You can use the model form below, but you do not have to.
This does not affect your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if the digital content is faulty (see section 9). Monthly subscribers can cancel at any time from the dashboard (see section 7); cancellation ends at the period end, with no partial refunds.

9. Your statutory rights
Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If it is faulty, you may be entitled to a repair or replacement, or, if that is not possible or does not fix the problem in a reasonable time, a price reduction (which can be up to a full refund). For more information, contact Citizens Advice (England and Wales), Advice Direct Scotland or Consumerline (Northern Ireland).
10. Acceptable use
You must not:
- copy, download in bulk, republish, sell, rent or share our content
- scrape, crawl or use bots, scripts or other automated tools to access the service
- try to get around payment, access limits or security measures
- reverse engineer, disrupt or overload the site
- use the service for anything unlawful or to harm others
11. Our content
All content on PassBritain, including questions, explanations, study guides, flashcards, design and branding, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other laws. While your access is active, we give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use it for your own study. You get no other rights in our content.
12. Availability and changes to the service
We aim to keep PassBritain available and accurate, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may need to pause it for maintenance or reasons outside our control.
We may update, improve or change our content and features. If we make a change that significantly reduces what you have paid for, we will tell you, and you may cancel and get a refund for any unused paid period.
If you spot an error in our material, please tell us at hello@passbritain.co.uk.
13. Our liability to you
- If we break these terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result. Loss is foreseeable if it is obvious it will happen, or if we both knew it might happen when you bought.
- If digital content we supply damages your device or other digital content, and this is caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill, we will either repair the damage or pay you fair compensation.
- PassBritain is for personal use only. We are not liable to you for any business losses.
- We are not responsible for decisions you make about immigration, visas or nationality, or for the result of your real Life in the UK test (see sections 2 and 3).
- We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for breach of your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
14. Ending your access
- You can stop using PassBritain at any time and ask us to close your account.
- We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms (for example, by sharing your account or scraping content). Where reasonable, we will warn you first. If we close your account for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund any unused paid period.
- Sections that by their nature should continue (for example, sections 9, 11 and 13) will still apply after your access ends.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in law or in our service. We will show the date of the latest version at the top. If we make important changes that affect your active plan, we will email you in advance. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the changes take effect.
16. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can also bring proceedings in Scotland. If you live in Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in Northern Ireland.
If you have a complaint, please contact us first and we will try to put things right.
